I put off baking this recipe for months. When Sally posted bagels as the baking challenge in January 2019 I was determined to try making bagels myself, but never made the time. I bought everything bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s a year ago and still had not made bagels! When quarantine hit, I told myself I HAD to try them. Yet I made 3 batches of brownies, 2 pound cakes, blondies…. you get the idea, all before I tackled bagels.

But there really is no reason to be scared of bagels! They are just as simple as making bread, you just have to boil the bagels in a honey bath before baking.

The recipe was fun to make, and by allowing the dough to rise overnight I was able to have fresh, hot bagels in the morning for breakfast. and wow, they are so good! Sometimes store bought bagels can be chewy in an undersirable way, tough to eat without toasting. But these bagels are incredibly soft and delicious. Bake this now and see for yourself!
