Flour's Famous Banana Bread

The recipe that introduced me to Joanne Chang! I found Pancake Princess’s bake-off blog and was intrigued by the banana bread bake-off. I feel banana bread is one of those recipes where everyone prizes themselves on their banana bread, so I knew I had to give this recipe a try. I bought bananas and browned them for a week in anticipation!

Let me tell you, this banana bread did not disappoint! I have been determined to make a banana bread that beats Mark’s grandmother’s recipe (as a sign that it is truly spectacular). And Mark LOVED this bread. He claims this recipe is very similar in style to his grandmother’s. The sugar in this recipe caramelizes on the outside of the bread creating this fantastic caramel-y crust.
