Doughnut Muffins
Looking for some recipe inspiration I turned to Savor Magazine’s best blog awards. Here I found the Pancake Princess’s bake-off blog. A fantastic resource where she chooses a standard recipe and performs a bake-off between several different bloggers/chefs in an effort to find out what truly makes the best banana bread. She breaks apart the different elements and techniques and looks for trends in the recipes that are preferred, or less preferred. Reading this blog inspired me to try experimenting with more diverse recipes to see what elements really make the perfect baked good. I started looking into Joanne Chang, Ina Garten, and King Arthur’s flour etc.
I found a post from the founder of King Arthur’s Flour of his favorite recipes of all time. In this post he cited his doughnut muffins, and I knew I had to give them a try. Simple ingredients and irresistible high domed tops.
These muffins were a HIT with Mark. He absolutely loved this muffin. Fun to look at, nostalgic doughnutty texture, with the benefits of a muffin top.
If you are looking for a fun new muffin recipe, or are craving a doughnut but don’t want to fry/don’t have a doughnut pan, this is the recipe for you.
